WWE formely known as the WWF is extremely popular within our culture. From the Hulk to Batista there are a number of icons
that we idolize because of thier talent in the ring. There's no question as to why tickets for these events are in high demand. Wrestlemania is the pinnacle for
Professional wrestling and we carry a huge supply so make sure to grab your front row seats and bring the family to one of these amazingly choreographed events today.
Professional wrestling history started out of what we has the a traveling carnival feature a strong man competition.
He would challenge anyone to beat him in different competitions including the wrestling ring. The challengers almost
never won the prize money as the strongmans helpers would cheat to allow victory, this was how they made their
living. At some point carnies realized that more money could be made off the crowd than fighter entry fees and
wagers were accepted from the crowds on the fights, which somtimes would include local competitors. The fights were
almost always fixed and sometimes even the local fighters would be in on the fix to hype up the event.
From this promoters began putting wrestling events in arenas in the 1800s. Just like in NASCAR there tons of
promoters with many different belts that held no authority, until 1901 when promoters gathered and loosley created
the National Wrestling Association and award 1 championship belt. It wasn't until after World War II that the NWA
divided into regional leagues, and although they were part of the overall NWA they agreed not to steal each others
talent and expand into their territory.
This worked great until Vince McMahon, Jr. who took over the the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) in the 70's,
renamed it the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and immediately broke the gentlemens agreement. He began stealing
talent from the regional leagues and started scheduling shows in their territory which also helped him score big
cable tv contract, which made it difficult for smaller leagues to compete. By 1980 only one of regional leagues was
still in existence in the Southeast, until it was purchase by Ted Turner and changed the name to World Championship
Wrestling. After a short time WCW drew wrestlers and rating away from McMahons WWF for several reasons, included
poor storylines and steroid scandals. After some revamping, creative writing, and young talent the WWF came roaring
back and in 2001 McMahon purchase the WCW, taking control of the wrestling, vdeo library and trademarks and the WCW no
More recently a minor league based wrestling group called the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and quickly
gathered the interest of fans with it's hardcore style of wrestling. Ladder matches, cage matches, aggressive style
of wrestling including bodies flying through tables after flying off high ropes, this really changed the thinking of
wrestling fans. Although the ECW never made much money and eventually went bankrupt, then purchased by the WWF, they
had a huge impact on the way the WWF operates today. After a lawsuit by the World Wildlife Fund the WWF was forced to
change it's name once again this time to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) which is how it is known today.
Many hall of fame wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Andre the Giant and Brett Hart are what the made the sport
what it is today. Many of today's top wrestlers like Steve Austin, The Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena and Triple H
